Wednesday Evening from 6:30-7:45 p.m.
Our Lady of Lourdes
Our Lady of Lourdes Religious Education program strives to form a partnership with parents of public school students as they fulfill their role as primary religious educators of their children. To assist them in this process, we provide study, community building experiences, opportunities to witness to and serve others and to worship together.
Students in grades 1 through 11 come to class on most Wednesday evenings from 6:30 to 7:45 p.m. Classes are taught by parents and parish volunteers. Classes are held at Mary of Lourdes Middle School, John Paul II Center, and the church basement. Some high school classes meet in private homes.
Families may choose to homeschool their children in grades 1 through 8. We provide materials and require the children to make arrangements with the Director of Religious Education for testing.
Second graders prepare for First Reconciliation and First Communion as part of Religious Education on Wednesday evenings. Saturday retreats for both Sacraments are scheduled for the second graders and their parents, public school as well as Catholic school students.
Confirmation is celebrated in the spring of eleventh grade. Homeschooling is not an option for Confirmation. All participate in small group classes, service projects and retreats.
All of the options for religious education are dependent on volunteers. For those who volunteer for the entire program, fees are waived.
